Jaguar Cars has today unveiled an exciting and unique styling concept at the international driving debut of the new Jaguar XF Sportbrake. 'The Concept Speedboat by Jaguar Cars' showcases the design DNA of the British premium luxury and sports car manufacturer in an unexpected and spectacular package.
Jaguar Director of Design, Ian Callum is at the forefront of the Concept Speedboat. Callum explained: "We recognise that both our existing and future customers enjoy diverse and active lifestyles. With the launch of the new Jaguar XF Sportbrake, we had an opportunity to create a vision of how our design philosophy might be applied to an alternative product, in which speed and beauty are also priorities.
"The Concept Speedboat looks powerful. It follows, in so many ways, the idea of a traditional speedboat but with the sleek and fast characteristics that you would expect from a Jaguar Car."
Jaguar Cars consulted with a yacht design specialist and a bespoke design project management company throughout the development of the Concept Speedboat. The Concept Speedboat has a gel coat fibreglass hull finished on top with a natural teak decking. This is split by a carbon fibre fin, inspired by the iconic Jaguar D-Type. The front of the boat flows seamlessly into the screen and the red 2+1 cabin follows the sporting character of Jaguar cars. Jaguar Cars' heritage is also subtly recognised with fuel filler caps inspired by the Series 1 XJ. A polished aluminium propeller and pop-up mooring post imitates how the boat could be powered and docked respectively.

Ian Callum added: "I hope our design inspires people to think about our products in a much broader sense, especially in lifestyle and enjoyment. I have always had a passion to create such an object and it seemed fitting that we relate this to a lifestyle vehicle such as the Jaguar XF Sportbrake. The two sit together perfectly."
The new XF Sportbrake is the most versatile derivative of the award winning Jaguar XF to date. It represents a compelling combination of muscular yet elegant design, dynamic ability, contemporary interior luxury and, with a load-space capacity of up to 1675 litres, a no-compromise approach to practicality.
Matching the XF saloon for aerodynamics, torsional stiffness and dynamic handling ability, it is powered exclusively by Jaguar's range of powerful, refined and efficient diesel engines. The rear wheels are driven via an eight-speed automatic gearbox. The 2.2-litre engine is fitted with Jaguar's Intelligent Stop-Start system, making it the company's most efficient powertrain to date, while the 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 is available in two states of tune, with 275PS in the range-topping Diesel S. The XF Sportbrake goes on sale in UK and throughout Europe in November.

On Wednesday 17 October, Jaguar Australia previewed the F-TYPE at an exclusive event in Sydney ahead of the Australian International Motorshow.
Ruby Rose hosted a gathering of more than 200 VIPs at Simmer on the Bay. In her most exciting DJ gig to date she curated a stunning soundscape as the background to the F-TYPE's dramatic Australian debut, set on one of Sydney's iconic piers.
Ian Callum, Jaguar's Director of Design, revealed the F-TYPE to the crowd that gathered on the harbour, all eager to see the new two-seater sports car. "The F-TYPE is instantly recognisable as a Jaguar," said Ian. "It follows the ethos and design philosophy of exciting visual architecture, with beautiful lines and pure surfaces. What better place to preview the F-TYPE in Australia than against the iconic backdrop of the Sydney harbour."
After the Simmer on the Bay event, the F-TYPE continued its global reveal journey when it was presented to media at the Australian International Motorshow on the morning of 18 October. The Australian public will have their opportunity to view the F-TYPE up close from the 19-28 October on the Jaguar stand at the show.

What are Moto-Lita Steering Wheels?
Since the late 50's Moto-Lita handcrafted wood and leather rim steering wheels have taken pride of place in classic cars and sports cars around the world. Moto-Lita steering wheels have been chosen as original equipment by almost every prestigious car marque from Jaguar to AC Cars. Thousands of enthusiasts have used Moto-Lita classic and retro design steering wheels to grace their classic car restoration and renovation projects, or to give a prestigious edge to kit cars and custom cars.
From the day the business started, each and every steering wheel Moto-Lita has produced has been made by hand. Moto-Lita take pride in their avoidance of hi-tech gadgetry. They don’t profile their wheels with lasers, they cut or press them. A robotic arm doesn’t spray the varnish on; it’s applied, coat-by-coat by hand with a beautifully effective low-tech brush. To some this might sound old-fashioned and inefficient. Sure, it takes time, but that’s what they do - they take their time, so that every handmade steering wheel leaving the Thruxton workshop is worthy of carrying the Moto-Lita name. We agree and like Moto-Lita wouldn’t have it any other way, and we wouldn’t supply you with any lesser degree of quality. Purr-fect.
"We’ve all been here so long because we’re passionate about making the best British steering wheels ever. You don’t spend your working life designing and making steering wheels, or more than twenty years varnishing rims or bevelling strips of leather, if you don’t find great pride and satisfaction in your work. Half a century after the first Moto-Lita wheel was made, we all still find joy in holding one of our completed steering wheels - this is probably one of the most important things about us. Yet, despite our great success and massive market, we remain loyal to our simple founding objective: we make high-quality steering wheels, by hand." Simon Green Founder.

Watch the all new Jaguar F-Type reveal from the 2012 Paris Motor Show below
Purr-fect!
The F-TYPE, an all-new, two-seater, Jaguar sports car has been unveiled this evening at an exclusive event at Musée Rodin, Paris.
Adrian Hallmark, Global Brand Director, Jaguar, said:"Jaguar is a founder member of the sports car segment with a rich sporting bloodline stretching over 75 years, and in the F-TYPE we've reignited that flame. The F-TYPE isn't designed to be like anyone else's sports car. It's a Jaguar sports car - ultra-precise, powerful, sensual and, most of all, it feels alive."
ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW
The F-TYPE is an all-new, two-seater, Jaguar sports car
A front-engined, rear-wheel drive convertible, the F-TYPE is engineered to deliver pure dynamic driving reward and stunning performance
Visually, the F-TYPE's exterior demonstrates a new sports car design language for Jaguar, with cleaner lines delivered through the discreet use of technology such as deployable spoiler and door handles
The F-TYPE's interior features a driver-focused philosophy, with engaging controls encased in dramatic architecture. Unique technical grains tailor the trim materials, further differentiating the dual-cockpit cabin
Three models will be available - F-TYPE, F-TYPE S and the F-TYPE V8 S. They are powered respectively by Jaguar's new 3.0-litre V6 supercharged petrol engine in 340PS and 380PS outputs and its 5.0-litre V8 supercharged petrol producing 495PS
The range-topping F-TYPE V8S will reach 60mph in 4.2 seconds and has a top speed of 186mph. The 380PS V6 F-TYPE S will reach 60mph in 4.8 seconds and 171mph, the equivalent figures for the F-TYPE are 5.1 seconds and 161mph
All engines drive through an eight-speed 'Quickshift' transmission, a centrally mounted SportShift selector offering full manual sequential control, as do the steering wheel-mounted paddles
Both the S models have a limited-slip differential - the V6's mechanical and the V8's electronic - to maximise traction and driver reward
The S models also have an 'Active exhaust' system and an optional Configurable Dynamics programme. This allows the driver to tailor a number of the dynamic features to personal taste and includes lap timer and G-meter functionality
The F-TYPE is constructed around the fourth generation of Jaguar's acclaimed lightweight aluminium architecture using industry-first technology
Torsional and lateral stiffness have been prioritised to maximise handling agility. Around that rigid aluminium structure, every system - steering, brakes, powertrain - has been optimised for immediacy of response to driver inputs
All-aluminium double wishbone front and rear suspension systems provide precise body control, with adaptive damping adding a further layer of dynamic capability
SUMMARY
The new Jaguar F-TYPE represents a return to the company's heartland: a two-seater, convertible sports car focused on performance, agility and driver involvement. The F-TYPE is a continuation of a sporting bloodline that stretches back more than 75 years and encompasses some of the most beautiful, thrilling and desirable cars ever built.
The engineering ethos underpinning the F-TYPE is centred on Jaguar's industry-leading expertise in the use of aluminium. Featuring the most advanced iteration of Jaguar's acclaimed rigid and lightweight aluminium architecture to date, the F-TYPE has ideally balanced weight distribution that allows its involving rear-wheel drive dynamics to be explored to the full. Utilising extensive Computer Aided Engineering programmes, the attention to detail involved in the F-TYPE's creation even extended to the development of a new, lighter, aluminium front subframe.
In order to maximise the benefits of its advanced structure, the F-TYPE features all-aluminium double wishbone front and rear suspension and a quick-ratio steering rack for ultimate responsiveness. The aluminium architecture has been optimised to provide the stiffest possible underpinnings for the suspension with rigidity gains of more than 30 per cent in key areas compared to any other Jaguar application.
Three variants will be available at launch - F-TYPE, F-TYPE S and F-TYPE V8 S. Each is distinguished by the power output of its supercharged petrol engine with all engines featuring stop/start technology to maximise efficiency.
A new 3.0-litre V6, developed from Jaguar's highly acclaimed 5.0-litre V8, is available in either 340PS or 380PS variants, powering the F-TYPE and F-TYPE S respectively. Both applications exhibit the same free-revving, willing nature that encourages the enthusiastic driver to explore the full extent of the engines' abilities.
The V6 models are joined by a newly developed member of Jaguar's V8 engine family. Producing 495PS and 625Nm of torque in the F-TYPE V8 S model, it has an astonishing torque-to-weight ratio of 375Nm/tonne, accelerates to 60mph in 4.2 seconds (0-100km/h in 4.3 seconds) and on to an electronically limited top speed of 186mph (300km/h) while emitting 259g/km of CO2.
The 380PS V6 F-TYPE S covers the 0-60mph sprint in 4.8 seconds (0-100km/h in 4.9 seconds) and has an electronically limited top speed of 171mph (275km/h), with CO2 emissions of 213g/km.
The 340PS V6 F-TYPE accelerates to 60mph in 5.1 seconds (0-100km/h in 5.3 seconds) and on to an electronically limited top speed of 161mph (260km/h), while emitting just 209g/km of CO2.
An active exhaust system, which is standard on the S and V8 S models, adds another dimension of driver-engagement. Valves in the exhaust system open under load from 3000rpm which allows the exhaust note to build to a thrilling crescendo at the redline.
The F-TYPE has a set of eight closely-spaced, sporting ratios in its Quickshift transmission, giving greater driver control. The V6-powered S model also includes a Dynamic Launch feature, which optimises acceleration from rest.
The company's eye to the future is encapsulated in the assertive design language that deliberately challenges preconceptions. Jaguars have always defined sinuous, muscular simplicity and the F-TYPE is no exception, its shape being defined by two 'heartlines' forming the front and rear wings.
Taking inspiration from the C-X16 concept unveiled in 2011, the front of the F-TYPE features a new interpretation of the bold angular Jaguar grille from which flows the muscular clamshell bonnet with its signature 'power bulge'. The all important heartline begins its journey in the blade dissecting the shark-like gills on either side of the grille before leading the eye to the top of the front wing, emphasised by the bi-xenon headlamp and integral LED daytime running lights, into the door and towards the rear of the car where it gracefully disappears.
Its journey is taken up at this point by the second heartline which swells out to form the muscular rear haunch before sweeping dramatically around the sensual low tail, made possible by the inclusion of an active rear spoiler which deploys at speed to reduce lift by up to 120kg. Full LED rear lamps create a new Jaguar sports car signature by reinterpreting classic cues from the past and, by wrapping around to the trailing edge of the rear wheelarch, emphasise the powerful stance of the car and its rear-wheel drive sporting potential.
The focus on driver involvement and sporting performance in the F-TYPE is emphasised by the 'one plus one' layout of the asymmetric cabin. This is evidenced by the grab handle which sweeps down the centre console on the passenger side, delineating it from the driver's position. Further differentiation is provided by the use of different trim materials either side of the cabin, with a more technical finish on the driver's side.
Taking inspiration from cockpits of fighter airplanes, the controls are ergonomically grouped by function. Further aeronautical inspiration can be found in the joystick-shaped SportShift selector controlling the eight-speed transmission. The air vents on top of the dashboard will only deploy when instructed to by either the driver or complex control algorithms, staying tucked discreetly out of sight in other circumstances.
"With the F-TYPE, the Jaguar engineering team focused on delivering greater dynamic driving reward than ever before. To make that a reality, every engineer has had very tough targets to hit: every one of those targets has been met and, in many cases, exceeded, making the F-TYPE a car that delivers precisely the key sporting attributes that we intended."
Ian Hoban, Vehicle Line Director, Jaguar. Purr-fect!
The Jaguar F-Type will be unveiled at the 2012 Paris Motor Show in 2 days and Jaguar have released 2 more shots of their all new 2 seat sports car.
The first shot is of the interior finished in the finest Jaguar craftsmanship. We love the sports seats and what looks to be a suede finished steering wheel with paddle shift. We also love the passenger grab bar for when the driver gets a little over enthusiastic.
The second shot is a rear 3/4 view where you can see the rear wrap around tail lights, dual centre exhaust that we have seen on the test vehicles and a rear diffuser to promote road holding at speed.
From what we have seen so far the F-Type looks Purr-fect, we can’t wait for the 27th...
The F-TYPE, Jaguar's all-new sports car, will make its public debut in just one week's time: Thursday 27th September, at the Paris Auto Show.
Following an internet leak, this morning Jaguar released this single picture of its 911 rival, closely based on that C-X16 concept which wowed us all back at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2011.
A front-engined, rear-wheel drive convertible, three models of F-TYPE will be available. Powered respectively by 340PS and 380PS versions of Jaguar's new 3.0-litre V6 supercharged petrol engine and a new derivative of its 5.0-litre V8 supercharged unit, each F-TYPE is engineered for pure dynamic driving reward and stunning performance.
A man who knows better than most the driving experience that the F-TYPE will deliver is Mike Cross, Chief Engineer, Vehicle Integrity, Jaguar:"Fundamentally, a great sports car is one you'll look forward to driving because it's fun, and the F-TYPE definitely delivers on that score. We've worked hard to make sure that responses to steering, throttle and brakes are absolutely immediate, a task made far easier by the rigid aluminium structure at the car's base. It's precise and exciting, a car that you'll want to drive for the sake of driving alone - and it sounds fantastic!
Goodwood, 17th September 2012. The Jaguar Heritage Racing team scored a season finale victory in the Freddie March Memorial Trophy night race on Friday, which kicked-off the world famous Goodwood Revival Racing weekend.
The victory marked an emphatic end to an incredible first season in racing for Jaguar Heritage Racing, who claimed the top step of the podium at Grand Prix De Monaco Historique and the Nürburgring Old Timer.
The 2012 Freddie March Memorial Trophy at Goodwood Revival was a challenging 90-minute, two-driver event - the first ever night race at this most historic of racing festivals and designed to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the first Goodwood Nine Hours race.
Sharing the Jaguar Heritage Racing ex-Fangio C-Type with historic racer John Young, Alex Buncombe pushed incredibly hard as the sun set over the beautiful Goodwood Racing Circuit to take the lead, and set the fastest lap on the way to a memorable victory over a formidable line-up of Aston Martin, Ferrari and Maserati competitors.
Speaking shortly after the win, Alex Buncombe said:"Winning the first Goodwood Revival night race is a fantastic achievement for us. In a season where I am also competing in the FIA GT3 Blancpain Endurance Series, it has been a privilege to be part of a winning team that has seen Jaguar beat its premium brand rivals on the most famous race tracks in the world."
Adrian Hallmark, Global Brand Director Jaguar Cars summarised the season:"Winning the Freddie March Memorial Trophy crowned a successful first season for Jaguar Heritage Racing. It has been an evocative sight to see factory supported C- and D-Types back on the racetrack. These cars embody the seductive performance that is at the heart of the Jaguar brand. They form our design and technology bloodline, which runs through every new Jaguar car and will be clear in the DNA of the new F-TYPE, which will be unveiled at the 2012 Paris Motor Show."
Jaguar Heritage Racing was launched at the Royal Automobile Club in London in March 2012. Jaguar has one of the most successful racing heritages of any car brand and the Heritage Racing programme set out to put "works" supported Jaguar C- and D-Types back on iconic circuits for the first time since the mid-1950's.
