Introduced on 11 July 1972, the Jaguar XJ12 Series 1 was promoted as the fastest four door saloon in the world, with a claimed top speed of 140mph. Powered by Jaguar’s legendary 5.3 litre V12, it combined extraordinary performance with the refinement and ride quality for which the XJ became famous. This particular example is a very well preserved, Australian delivered 1973 SWB, one of only 720 right hand drive SWB XJ12 Series 1 cars built. Mechanically sound, the ride is first class and the body benefits from an earlier rust prevention treatment. The interior presents very well, with a period correct hand made Moto-Lita steering wheel, while the woodwork, dash, dials, carpets and roof lining are all in excellent condition. The red leather trim presents beautifully and only adds to the allure of this classic 70s icon. Very hard to find in this condition, any test welcome.
